Book Review

The book that I read by David Fischer for World Almanac Library was one of the best biography's that I have read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about baseball legends. This book gave you good information about the young and old days of my life and my special traits and awards from baseball.
Great Book!

Obstacles of my Life

When I was very young, I started playing for the Santurce Crabbers. I only sat the bench because of my age. The manager thought that I was too young to play baseball. After that I taught him that he was wrong about his choice and I shined like a star. After my first MLB World Series my whole team thought that I was going to be the m.v.p., but I was not because of my skin color. The sports reporters all thought of the least of problems and blamed them on me.

Qaulities

When I had come back to my homeland, there was a targic earthquake in Nicuragua. I boarded the plane that sent me to my death on December 31, 1972 that was full of supplies for the refugees that survived the earthquake. The supplies did not make it there, but everyone still thought I was caring. When I did not play baseball on the Puerto Rican team I sat on the bench. While I sat at the bench I watched the players and figured out how I could play better. I was determined to play for that team and show them my love for baseball.

The World was Effected

I effected the world by being one of the first Latin american baseball players to ever be really sucessful. Because of my sucess I influenced several other people to start playing baseball in the United States. There is a quote that I had said to myteam to get us out of our 6 game losing streak. I said, ''Anytime you have an oppurtunitie to make things better and you don't, then you are wasting time on earth.''

Life and Awards

I was born in Barrio, Puerto Rico on a sugar cane farm. My family was very poor and earned less than a dollar a day. When I grew up I played on a field with a wood branch, tin cans, and threw rocks at a tree stump. When I was retired from baseball I went on a plane with supplies to go to Nicaragua because they had experienced a deadly earthquake. When I played baseball I received 12 golden gloves, 2 world series wins, MVP for the whole league and world series, had 3,000 hits, and was named the best Latin America baseball player ever.
